City Groups are an intentional avenue to get to know people in our church community on a deeper level than is possible at a Sunday worship service. These groups meet regularly in homes throughout the city during each year, taking suitable breaks during holidays and summer.

City Groups are a place:

  • of transformation where Christ and the Holy Spirit are at work as life is shared and God’s Word is explored.

  • of discipleship where we are all learning to follow Jesus.

  • where we are spiritually effectual by sharing life, sharing the Word, and sharing in prayer.

City Groups are NOT social clubs. Though we hope you have plenty of social, fun time, the atmosphere is to be welcoming for all, a time to get to know and be known beyond your already established friend-groups...creating a safe place for everyone. City Groups function with a posture of respect and wonder. We all bare the image of God and are therefore loved, valued, and worthy of being known.

Groups will be divided primarily by where people live in the city, to create easier opportunities to connect within your neighborhood. The days that people are available to meet is also a factor for placement in a group. Specific circumstances that individuals may have can also be shared in the registration process to help us place you as needed.

Though City Groups each have some structure for continuity, they are not rigid. The structure is organic in nature and rooted in the Biblical principles of friendship and community as displayed through the gospel. Think of a vine...how it is nurtured and cared for as it grows, deepens its roots, branches, and bares fruit. That's what we pray for in our City Groups.

A place where God's grace transforms us as we live in community & love our city

Previously in my experiences at church, as someone who is not a Christian, I have felt left out, ostracized, ignored and frankly looked down upon. That, for me, has finally changed. This is such a welcome change of pace and mindset. Never have I been so welcome by such a diverse group of people. New friends, knowledgeable teachers WHO ADMIT they don’t know it all but are willing to help and grow with you, great worship (music), and above all a judgement free place to let down the walls we all put up. No one is perfect (me least of all) and it’s made clear weekly that everyone is welcome and perfection need not apply at Restoration. I never grew up in the church and, as such, have had very little basis to build my beliefs upon. I have learned so much in a short time at Restoration. What I have learned most of all, is how a church should feel, how a community should be inclusive in its caring of everyone, rather than dismissive of non believers and the imperfect. I originally went to church to appease my wife but now we go because we all enjoy the fellowship and camaraderie of an inclusive community like restoration.
